Ride and Relax in Monastyrok
Above all, the Dirty Hooves are all about horse expeditions.
Starting from 2018, we also organize a new type of adventure: stationary riding camps at our western Ukrainian base in Monastyrok.
Camp variants
We organize two different kinds of stationary camps.
We organize these kinds of trips for groups of 4 to 8. In the case of a bigger group – let us know, we'll sort it out for you.
Vacation with horses
This type of camp combines horse riding (also basic lessons for greenhorns), outdoors leisure and short tourist trips. The area is full of monuments and other attractions. We can organize trips or help planning them. If the weather is fine, it's a good idea to have a swim in the Seret river.
Stationary treks
During the day, the group works on improving their riding skills and scouts the surrounding areas. The landscape is very diversified: forests, fields and a beautiful valley of the Seret river. In the evening, we can sit by the fire, drink beer or kvass and listen to the silence.
Our base
The base is located in the Monastyrok village in Ternopil Oblast.
The conditions of our Monastyrok base are pretty good for the Ukrainian standards. We provide accommodation in typical village houses. If you're brave enough, you may sleep on the hay in the stable instead. The shower is a wooden cabin placed outdoors and the toilet is a clean and tidy privy, also made of wood. We provide full alimentation: everyday, we serve unlimited beverages and meals prepared from local products.
Care and training
Volodymyr Onyskiv – Volodya – is a chieftain of our base. He looks after the riders and horses on site.
Volodya is an experienced rider, ex-racer, trek guide and a specialist in training and breaking horses with 25 years of experience. First of all, however, he's a great, warm, cordial and affable person; his knowledge and experience are priceless. Volodya speaks Polish, Ukrainian and Russian.
Safe Ukraine
Monastryrok is a beautiful, idyllic village. The locals are simple and nice people, eager to host guests and tourists.
Ukraine is a specific place but – contrary to popular belief – safe and friendly. Small towns and villages are nothing short of a time travel experience. There is a striking resemblance to its western neighbours before decades. It's a rustic world, extinct in most of the developed countries.
The situation caused by the war on the East often raises concerns. They are unfounded – Monastyrok lays over 1000 kilometres from the frontline. Here, everyone knows each other and all doors stay unlocked overnight. You would struggle to find a safer place than this.
